Post-B'nai Mitzvah Learning: 8th - 12th Grade
Leadership Seminar
8th grade
Learners receive thoughtful training for how to serve as madrichim (teaching assistants) while gaining leadership skills. This seminar meets at 9:00am on Sunday mornings and ends in time for students to serve as madrichim in JLC Sunday classes. Communication, professionalism, collaboration, and problem-solving are some of the topics that will be explored through a Jewish, and very practical, lens.
Students are encouraged to participate in JUF IsraelNow! This is a remarkable travel experience to Israel with peers. Click here for more information.
Tikkun Olam Seminar
9th grade
Spend the year exploring the Jewish value of making our world a better place. Social action and social justice are woven into the learning of the Jewish history of environmentalism, social justice, and performing acts of tzedakah.
Confirmation
10th grade
Confirmation is a year-long journey with the BJBE clergy, during which students will explore Jewish peoplehood, theology, and some of life's most challenging questions. It's a chance for our 10th graders to discover their own connection to Judaism and discern why being Jewish matters to them. We end our year with our Confirmation Ceremony as part of Shabbat services to celebrate and reflect on the learning experience.
L'Taken: In partnership with the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC), teens head to Washington DC for the opportunity to impact and begin to repair our country, sharing views on social justice topics with decision-makers on Capitol Hill. BJBE will attend January 23 - 26, 2026.
Introduction to Culture, History, and People of Israel
9th - 12th grade
Earn college credit in a low-stress environment! In partnership with American Jewish University, we are offering high schoolers an accredited college-level course. Through the generosity of JUF, the cost of this class is highly subsidized. Contact JLC Director Emily Lusardi for more information.
Madrichim Program
9th - 12th grade
Through our nationally-recognized Madrichim teaching assistant program, teens are given the opportunity to assist in JLC classes. This paid position allows young adults to serve as leaders in our community.
Musical Madrichim
9th - 12th grade
We are looking for teen musicians and vocalists to help uplift our worship experiences at Matzah Ball Shabbat and other celebrations.
